Coffee is Life
By: Stephanie J. Bardy

Seraphina shuffled herself to the coffee pot. She popped a pod in and hit the button. It was off. Now she would have to wait the fifteen seconds it took to heat the water before she could drown herself in the sweet nectar that was her coffee. The blue light flashed, and she jabbed it impatiently. Leaning against the counter she waited. Drip, drip, drip, then a steady stream of the only liquid that would prevent someone getting yelled at. She wished desperately that people would leave her stuff alone. She took that first sip and remembered.

She lived alone.
