Fragmentation Song
By: Ann Christine Tabaka

Parallel lines dissect shadows of leaves
-----------dancing on green walls that paint my room.
Blind slats slicing shapes,
-----------whole into fractions.
Salty evaporation
-----------of tears that once fell.
Searching for parts that used to be me.
-----------Broken fingers – severed tongue –
tattered heart.
-----------Fragments swirling a tornado of atoms –
spinning into space.
-----------A symphony of particles
searching for a home.
-----------Pasting puzzle pieces into totality.
Exhuming buried emotions
-----------of a disintegrated life.
Cracker crumbs always settle –
-----------to the bottom of the box.
