Pillow Dreams
By: Christopher Bice

I wake each morning eyes moist from the recurring dreams that haunt me. I'm once again clenching your pillow tightly to my chest dreaming that it's you that I'm holding. I still smell your perfume when I squeeze the softness to me. But you are not here. You left needing to find yourself, needing to grow beyond our marriage, beyond me. I let you go with the hope that you would return some day. But for now I hold you through your pillow from a thousand miles away. Praying that you still hold me close to your heart through mine.
