I am Death
By: Stephanie Bardy

The crunch of the leaves reminds me that life once dwelled in this barren land.
Vitality once flowed through the veins of the twisted roots beneath my feet.
Hope graced the branches above and the dirt below

Helplessness skitters past my foot in the form of a dry brown leaf.
The silence weighs heavy on my shoulders.
I take a breath.

I am done.

I am Death.
