Queen of the Westerlands
Part XVI
By: Terry D. Scheerer
A Short Synopsis of
Queen of the Westerlands
Princess Isabelle—now Queen Isabelle—is running for her life. Her father, King of the Westerlands, was recently killed in battle and her mother later killed by deceitful nobles who intend to steal the kingdom and place their own king on the throne. With her friend and mentor, Sir Humphrey of Longwood, along with his squire Bruce, Isabelle escapes her castle home just before she could be murdered in her sleep. With few friends in her kingdom to ask for assistance, Sir Humphrey leads Isabelle north in search of aid.
Not only are they attempting to avoid soldiers who seek their death, but a wizard—who seems to be the one behind the kingdom takeover—is also seeking them, using his magic and bloodthirsty wolves to track them down.
During their travel, the small party did acquire one other member—an older Innkeeper who once fought as a common soldier in the king’s army, and alongside Sir Humphrey in the early wars. Together the four companions have escaped capture or death several times, but not without injury, and they still travel toward the North Country, where hopefully Isabelle may find support in her attempt to regain the throne, and her Kingdom of the Westerlands.
