Welcome to our End of the Year Edition of the "World of Myth". This
month we have several things planned for all of our readers. Since this
is December, which means it is Christmas time, we will attempt to indulge
in a festive spirit and present you with a number of attractions.
Over in the Fantasy section, we help you get in the Christmas spirit with
a short story entitled, "The Christmas Wizard", as well as a lighthearted
story which takes you to the limit of holiday travel trials with "Troll
Charges". Over in the Art Gallery, newcomer to the site, Lai Chi Chono
displays his wondrous version of the Santa of Myth and Kevin Magnus
returns with his third Holiday Poem (and possible his last entry for us),
entitled, what else, "Christmas".
Speaking of 'last', venture into what may be our final installment of
"The Myth of...", as we explore Christmas and where the concept 'really'
originated.
Also this month is the hybrid debut of our now defunct Commentary
Section, "FYI". This month David K. Montoya gives us a little insight
into what he has been up to, as well as what his plans are for the "World
of Myth" as we head into a new year.
One thing you might have noticed missing this month is our "Trivia
Contest". In the poll last month, we asked you which sections you liked
the best, in an effort to continue to provide you, the reader, with
material that you enjoy. Our original plan was to cut the one section
that got the lowest score, but to our surprise (and you people do
surprise us, from time to time), there was a three-way tie for the
apparently least liked section. These included the Commentary section,
the Trivia of Myth and The Myth of... section. So, the Commentary and
Trivia sections were axed immediately and this issue will see the last
installment of The Myth of... If, however, you have any suggestions as
to how we could improve these deleted sections, please e-mail us and let
us hear your opinions, so we can possibly improve them and bring them
back.
In closing, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support,
especially after last months 'hacking' episode and all of the problems
that may have caused. And even though last month showed a slightly
smaller turnout of readers than the previous two issues, it was still a
good showing, all things considered and that warrants a special "Thank
You" from all of us here at "World of Myth".
We would like to wish you all a safe and Happy Holiday season! Enjoy the
"World of Myth"!
An Important P.S.--Please, do not forget to vote your preferences for
each section you visit. Without your votes, we do not know what you
enjoy and it also gives us an idea of how many people are coming to the
site. If we do not meet our Quarterly Quota of visitors, we may be
forced to close down this site. So, again, please vote and have a Happy
Holiday!
