Now they tell us it is the time of Thanksgiving,
But, has it become another day for the living?
Is there still a reason to be thankful in life,
When the world is so full of hatred and strife?
What of the days when being 'alive' was thanks enough,
When life was more simple and not quite so rough?
We all know this is true, for both you and I,
If you just look into yourself and do not lie.
But, for myself, I can be thankful in the end,
For I have my family and I have a good friend.
So, on this annual Thursday, as you gather to feast,
Think back on the Pilgrims, who landed in the east.
Because we all have something to be thankful for this day--
Just search deep within your soul, then look up and say,
Happy Thanksgiving! and I'll have the drumstick, if I may.
