Wasted
By: Ellen Millman

Sterling thoughts now purified,
Gleaming from what burns inside.

Singeing off the chaff and waste,
To recognize the bitter taste.

Awakening to clear a path,
Reaping my own aftermath.

Intentions good as they were meant,
Time has past, emotions spent.

Carelessly I've gone too far,
Chasing this unfailing star.

Undermined and tempted true,
Failing to gain all of you.

Like sifting through these grains of sand,
Knowing I can not demand,

Pieces of a broken soul,
To suddenly at once be whole.

Simplify this life for me;
Let it be...What it will be.
