The following is called a 'Flash Story'. It is a short-short, being under 500 words long. We haven't tried any of these before, but I thought I would toss one at you, to see how it was received. TDS.

He looked into the dark opening and was repulsed by what he saw. The interior was hot and dank, while a foul-smelling odor wafted out to him. A thick, sickly, whitish-grey coating of slime covered the floor and a fluffy white growth clung to everything else in sight.

Reaching out a tentative finger, he gingerly scratched at the white substance with his fingernail. The coating was soft, fuzzy and yielding, like rotten yogurt, his finger coming away with a thick layer of the substance beneath his nail. He brought the offending digit close to his nose for a quick sniff and was instantly sorry he had done so.

The gamey stink coming from the opening was quickly becoming noisome and he felt suddenly queasy. He pulled back from the mirror and closed his mouth. Reaching for the medicine cabinet door, he said, "Damn. Guess I better brush my teeth."

The End
