Dear Readers,

Today, I would like to share with you some news, both good and not so good.

To begin with, a few months ago I was diagnosed with cancer and am now undergoing a sixteen week regime of daily radiation treatments in an attempt to eradicate this invasion. And, while my prognosis is guardedly optimistic, this episode marks yet another dark chapter in my life.

This attack was not totally unexpected, however, as I had for some time suspected such an assault upon my person. With that thought in mind, some months ago I submitted a manuscript of my poetry and short stories to a small publishing company, with the hope it would be printed, just in case my prognosis was not as it turned out to be.

I am pleased to announce that a limited edition of 500 copies of this book will indeed become available, hopefully by September 1st, 2005. I have already proofed one set of galleys for my book and I wish to offer our loyal readers, here at 'The World of Myth', first choice at copies of this limited, First Edition, 200 copies of which I will personally autograph.

Among the dozen or so poems included in this volume will be a few that have seen print within the pages of 'The World of Myth', but most were written either 20 odd years ago or just within the past year, during a prolonged bout of severe depression. Of the six short stories in the book, there will be a full length version of To Dance with the Dead, as well as somewhat revised copies of Death Chant and Between the Moon and Mars, all of which have been showcased in past issues of 'The World of Myth'. The other three stories in this book have never seen print before now, with one of them being completed just before the manuscript was sent off to the publisher.

All of the poems are dark and brooding, although a few might contain a lighter touch, here and there. The stories, for the most part, fall into the Horror genre, while one, Band of Gold, might be considered a 'ghost' story. Both the stories and poems deal with darkness and dreams of night, so the title of my book is, appropriately enough, Dreams of Darkness, Dreams of Night.

By next month, I hope to have up and running a separate web site, devoted especially to the book, where you may garner further information about publication dates, read story excerpts, and obtain purchasing information about the book, itself. There will also be a link, here at 'The World of Myth', to take you directly to the Dreams of Darkness, Dreams of Night web site.

I hope you all enjoy this effort, as it has been a long time coming and not a little of my own blood, sweat and tears went into the making of it. Remember, this is going to be a limited edition printing, so it will have to be first come, first served and a number of these copies have already been spoken for. I also want to thank all of you for your support during my short time here as Editor in Chief of 'The World of Myth' and I hope to be around long enough to put even more stories up on the site for your reading enjoyment, in both the near future and perhaps, if all goes well, in the distant future, as well.
