Hey Mythkateers! Here we are again, the 11th hour and I am whipping up an intro! One of these months I will have it ready to go and poor Dave won't know what to do with himself!
Anyway, temperatures have started to climb here in Florida while back home gets covered in more snow. I'm not complaining one iota! As you have heard me say, I hate the cold!
I want to take a moment right off the hop and congratulate Jenna Sparks for being Member of the Month. Her artwork, Toss a Coin, was incredible and I couldn't be happier that she won. Artists very rarely get the recognition they deserve and very rarely win MoTM. So, this was a super thrill for me!
I want to congratulate Eric Rivera for being our cover art this month, and to Jacqueline Bartle for being our Featured Article. I also want to welcome back Zoie Montoya; she is what keeps our children's gallery going. I have missed her work!
You will notice a plethora of new names in the roster this month. I am absolutely amazed at all the new names. Every month we bring you the best that is offered to us, and to have so many new contributors is a blessing. It opens the door of imagination even farther.
February is the month of love. Family love, self-love, and love of others. This month also saw me turn 50. That I did NOT love. I enjoyed the week I spent celebrating but not the number that came with it. But it has caused me to reflect on how I want the next 50 years to go. I want to take what I have learned and apply it to what is coming next. I want to explore and expand my knowledge and I want to create. Stories, poems, drabbles. I want to do it all. I want to do what I love and love what I do. Reflecting on the theme of February, not only being the coldest month in Ontario, but also the month that has the Canadian holiday Family Day, and Valentine's Day, I went deep and took a good look at what I love. Who I love and how I love. I express it in words. Big ones, little ones, long paragraphs or a few short sentences. But each expression is one of the words. That is my love. Words. My words for you, in this month of hearts and flowers, chocolates and pretty cards, is to love. Love something. Find that one thing that makes your heartbeat just a little faster, that brings a smile to your face, and chase it. Pursue it with the abandon and joy of a toddler running naked through the sprinkler. Don't put it away or put it off. Just love.
February can be a hard month for many, although short, it is a cold lonely month with no holidays to give rise to a family gathering. So, reach out, communicate, and love. Love yourself. Love others, and don't let yourself be alone. You are never alone. We work hard to foster a feeling of family, and that means being there for each other. I'm here.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this month's offerings, and please vote, comment, and let our writers and artists know how very much you appreciate all their hard work.
Until next month my friends,
Stephanie J Bardy
