Christmas Dream
By: Christopher Bice
With my family gone, I find that holidays are just another lonely night.
Tonight, I saved a broken branch, the tree lot had thrown away. My makeshift Christmas tree sits on my kitchen table in a glass of water. A single triple "A" battery powering a very tiny string of flickering lights. My darkened kitchen now a party-ball kaleidoscope.
Spending the last of my money at the local dealer's corner I decided to give myself one final present. A Christmas Eve filled with the memories and dreams of better times, when I was surrounded by the ones I loved.
