The setting has to be perfect tonight,
I open the window, turn off the light
let moonlight alone attend my delight,
I sleep, knowing he is just out of sight.

The wind wakes me, caresses as a lover might
soft hands, gentle touch, are cloaked by the night,
I'm cushioned, carried in languid delight.
Held by a nebulous creature in flight.

While tantalised to a heightened degree
I'm still reluctant to set myself free.
I retreat as before, not willing to see
Where I would let those instincts take me.
