Hello Mythketeers,

Here we are at the hallmark of an epic event. I was told I needed to write an epic intro. I have sat and pondered this intro for a while. Gone back and read some of my past intro's, read other intro's and I just don't think I could do epic justice. Epic isn't my style, and it shouldn't be the style of the intro.

The magazine is epic. I am merely the one who introduces it to you.

Hello Mythketeers, here is your magazine. IT is epic.

I don't want to write an intro that sounds trite, or condescending or fake. I want to be real with you all, as I always have. To be real, I have to be decidedly un-epic.

So, here is your un-epic intro to a totally epic magazine.

This my friends, is our 100th issue. Not many free magazines see this milestone, and when I came on board in issue 61, I can tell you honestly, I didn't think I would still be here to see it myself. I wrote a story, as part of my contract as an author, and figured after my 6 months were up, I would fade back into the woodwork. But something about this magazine pulls you in, makes you work harder, strive for better, and want to be part of it all.

I can't speak to much before issue 61 other than to say that I have read most of the magazines. When I became a contributor for The World of Myth, I did my homework. I wanted to see what kind of caliber of story I was throwing my work into. Was I even good enough to be considered for publication? Submitting a story for 6 months was part of my contract as an author, but I wanted to make sure that I was at least on par with the quality of stories that the magazine was putting out. After my required amount was up, I stayed. I continued to submit stories and they continued to be accepted. In January of 2019, I became Managing Editor after Mike Lutz retired. I worked as hard as I could, and I tried to make the magazine a place that people felt comfortable in submitting too. That they would be proud to be a part of. I worked my way up and am now, more than proud to say I am the Editor in Chief.

Each and every issue brings me pleasure. Each and every issue from that first one, to this one, has entertained me in ways that I didn't imagine when I first heard the words, The World of Myth.

It has brought me friendships and relationships that I will cherish for a lifetime. It has given me opportunities that on my own I would never have had. I have met people, through email, from all over the world. Australia, India, the UK. I have been touched emotionally by people I have never even heard the sound of their voice. Because of this magazine. It is so much more than words or pictures on a page. It is a living breathing entity of its own. It has been a comfort and a constant in a world that has changed rapidly over the last three years. Even over the last 17 years. It has always been something that I can depend on. Every month, without fail, there is an issue to put out.

We have seen contributors come and seen some go. With each month we welcome new ones and give a hearty hello to returning ones.

The format may have changed a bit here and there, but the core idea, the initial purpose has always remained the same.

To bring literature and art to the masses, for free. It will always remain that way. As long as I am Editor in Chief, I can make you that promise.

I want to take a moment and congratulate Rebecca Ilich. She graced the cover of issue 1, and now, at issue 100, she is gracing the cover again. She has had art in many of these issues and I can't say how privileged and proud I am to call her friend. She has a talent that I admire and am so glad she shares it with the world.

I also want to congratulate David K Montoya, or, as I call him, Dave. He started this whole shebang way back in 2004, not even knowing if anyone would be interested. Over the years he has created a home for writers, poets, and artists. A place we can explore and expand our talent, try out new genres or new styles, and feel like we are part of a family, part of something special. We wouldn't be here without you.

I want to congratulate us all. From the very first writers and poets, to the new ones joining us this issue. You all make this what it is. You have all made this issue epic.

Take a bow.

And now, with no further ado, I present to you for your reading pleasure, Issue 100 of The World of Myth Magazine.
