We hit the back wooden fence dead on and found ourselves in an untouched desert area. As we headed
away from that scene of carnage, I couldn ’t help but feel at a lost. After all, that place was once my home
and as I looked back in my rear view mirror, I could see that everything was being consumed by flames. I
then realized that the landscape of my childhood was now lost forever.

Once we made our way out of Airepseh, I came across an old freeway that would put us in the right
direction to Haven. No one had said anything since we left Richard’s home, but that was okay. I had
a gut feeling that we would have many more chances to speak.
