I am sitting here, listening to Alphaville's Forever Young, as I am writing this month's intro. That song has always had a strong meaning for me, but with this whole isolation thing going on and being cut off from my family and friends, it is resonating rather strongly with me. Now, don't get me wrong, I have no delusions that I am going to live forever, or that I am still even young, in today's standards. But I want to live. Living, before isolation, was making money, paying the bills and having the things. Now, living has a different meaning. It is doing the things, seeing the people, loving openly and with a whole heart. It is saying what needs to be said, when it needs to be said, not waiting for that perfect moment, because as we can see, time will steal those perfect moments. Nature will have other plans, the normal will change. I have started this intro off on a rather sombre note, and that is not what I had intended to do. It's definitely not how I write my intro's, but things have been sombre, for a lot of us. Loneliness, depression, anxiety, they all play a big part in many of our daily lives. I have had a few conversations with members of TwoM family, and I am letting you all know, if you need to talk, I am here. So, now that I have brought all your moods down, I have a bit of a funny story to share. This is the fastest intro I have ever written. I actually thought it was still the 21st. Until I looked at my calendar on my phone and realized, nope, it was the 23rd and I still had editing and an intro to do!! To the laptop I raced at 11pm my time, made a quick call to David K Montoya, grovelling and begging for forgiveness, (which he eventually gave, after much consideration and mutterings of a blood sacrifice to the MythMaster) and I dove in! (It should be noted, that he was still coding, as usual. We do tend to take this down to the wire, no matter how hard we try not too.) So, while the thoughts are racing about my head, I am trying to get them all down in a concise, understandable way. Things are shaping up well for Open Contract Challenge, so well that the submissions have more than doubled from last year! YAY!! I have posed questions as to the interest and readability of a physical magazine that the reader could purchase. The response has been overwhelming!! While we are still in the beginning stages of pulling this together, I am excited as we move forward. Just a quick note, if you have something you would like to have considered for the new publication, please hang on to it until we have an email set up for that. Finally I would like to say congratulations to Chris Bice for making Member of the Month and to Kristopher Harris for our cover art this month. Until next month Mythateers!!
