We are Women
By: Stephanie Bardy

I stood in the rain and I cried today

I wept and I keened for a soul that has been swept away.
I wailed and I whimpered for those left broken behind.

I let the drops carry my tears to the earth at my feet.
I let the thunder carry my voice to the sky.
I let the lightening brighten my heart.

I stood in the rain and I cried today.
For beauty that I had the privilege to see.
The power of the storm matched the ache in my heart.

But I stood in the rain and I smiled today.
As my pain washed away in the stream.
My feet gripped the Earth, and my face felt the sky.

For we are women, and we are strong.
We will dance in the moonlight.
And see the sun rise tomorrow.
