Review of Ready Player One by Ernie Cline
By: Luna Lupine

So I have to ask, did any of you see the Pink Moon last month, if you did, wasn't it amazing and beautiful? Myself and my, uh, friends went out all night and enjoy the special moon light. Okay, let get to the reason all of you are here this month!

After reading this book, the only thing that I can think of is that if you debut book is this amazing, how are others going to measure up? Now, the author, Ernie Cline could get lucky and produce amazing follow-ups like Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games books. It's one of those books that draws you in that when you finish the 400 pages, it's 5 o'clock the next morning!

The author produces his dystopian story a mixture of an epic quest and adventure tale, with amazing detail and honors anything in the nerd culture. One of my favorite things in this book is that the pop culture of the 1980s is showcased in this book. How can anyone not nerd out? I almost peed after laughing so had after a Oingo Boingo reference was made!

This is from the Publisher about the book: In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines, puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. When Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape.

Like I said earlier, once you get started you won't be able to stop until you reach the end of the book, and think that anyone who is at some level nerdom will enjoy this book! If you are like me and dreamed of a day where your favorite cartoon and anime characters interacting, and enjoy looking for Easter eggs—watched a movie so many times that you know the lines by heart or was ever moved by a song this book is for you! As the Author Ernie Cline draws those feelings to the surface! Ready Player One transports the reader from page to page like a shuttle with storytelling that will blow your mind!

I will say that there is a bit of a con to this amazing work of fiction, at time the language is a bit too racy for a book aimed for the Young Adult audience. While it does elude to sex, masturbation and a hand full of adult situations, but it is spaced evenly through out the book making the imagery easier to take.

I've held off from seeing the movie until I read this book, and I'm hoping that the film is half as good as Ernie Cline's writings. I say this with the knowledge that the novel was released in 2011, but I say that Ready Player One is the read of the year! I give Ready Play One four and a half imagination filled stars , and promise you that if you agree to my reviews pick up a copy to digest ASAP!

So that is it for me this month, keep your eyes out for a full moon (also know as a Flower Moon because it's happening in the month of May) on the 29th. Until then, enjoy a book and let me know what you think of my reviews!
